Health benefits of apple cider vinegar


Apple cider vinegar is common to every kitchen. Though it has an unpleasant taste and smell, it has many benefits they range from the digestion system to the respiratory system among others. The following are the health benefits of apple cider vinegar when one takes it when mixed with water and other ingredients like honey.

Helping with tummy issues

There are many stomach ailments that apple cider can help with. If one is having stomach upset, instead of popping some pills, one should take apple cider vinegar with water. If a diarrhea is caused by a bacteria, then one can take the same vinegar mixed with water. This is because this vinegar has some antibacterial properties. In addition to that, this vinegar has pectin which offers great relief for intestinal spasms.

Curing hiccups

Hiccups are a common occurrence. The vinegar works by stimulating the nerves found in the throat which are responsible for the spasms causing the hiccups.

Soothing sore throats

With a sore throat can feel very uncomfortable. When one gets this, they should take a quarter a cup of apple cider vinegar and mix it with a quarter cup of water. This mixture can then be gargled every hour. The mixture is very acidic which makes the germs causing the sore throat to die.

Prevention of indigestion

Indigestion is often as a result of food staying in the stomach for long. This may make one’s stomach feel full and also create some discomfort. To help prevent this, one should mix a tablespoon of honey with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water then take it thirty minutes before eating.

Clearing stuff nose

Apple cider vinegar has acetic acid and potassium. When one gets a stuffy nose, they will need to mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water. The potassium will help in thinning the mucus while the acetic acid will help in the prevention of growth of the germ which is causing the nasal congestion. The mixture will help in draining the sinuses.

Weight loss

The main ingredients of apple cider vinegar help with this. The acetic acid is known to suppress one’s appetite while at the same time increasing the metabolism and reducing retention of water. It also helps in digestion of starch which means that fewer calories are released into the bloodstream.

Getting rid of dandruff

3Dandruff is dry skin and it may cause the skin to itch hence one will have an itchy scalp. To get rid of dandruff and the scalp itchiness, one should mix a quarter cup of apple cider vinegar with a quarter cup of water and put it in a spray bottle then spray it on their scalp and let sit for at least fifteen minutes. After fifteen minutes the hair is washed as usual. The acidity of the apple cider vinegar will change the pH of one’s scalp and make it harder for the yeast causing dandruff to grow leaving you with a healthy scalp.
